Episode 32 – Meet Blueberry Lane, The Sanctuary Working For A Balanced World
Blueberry Lane Farm Animal Sanctuary is working for a well-balanced world; one where humans act as stewards of the earth and care for nonhuman animals with love and compassion. Located on the east coast of North Carolina, Blueberry Lane is home to animals who were previously farmed in factories such as chickens and pigs, while also offering sanctuary to goats, dogs, and sheep.
The founder, Debbie Davis, started her relationship with animals young under a roof of hunters and poachers. Debbie always had a connection to nonhumans, but had no idea how her relationship to other animals would transform over the years. Although she was initially reluctant to switch to a plant-based diet years ago, Debbie eventually learned that she could eat plants and still thrive.
Tune into this episode to hear about the immense progress that Blueberry Lane has made in such a short time, what health problems rescued animals usually have when coming from factory farms or petting zoos, and what you can say to religious folks in a vegan debate or conversation about veganism.
